Biografía

Johanny Vázquez Paz nació en San Juan, Puerto Rico. Posee un B.A. en sociología de la Universidad del Estado de Indiana, y un M.A. en estudios hispanos de la Universidad de Illinois en Chicago. Su libro Streetwise Poems/Poemas callejeros fue recientemente publicado por la editorial Mayapple Press (Michigan, 2007). Editó la antología Between the Heart and the Land / Entre el corazón y la tierra: Latina Poets in the Midwest publicada por la editorial MARCH/Abrazo Press en el 2001. Sus poemas han sido incluidos en muchas revistas y antologías, incluyendo la compilación Poetas sin tregua que incluye varias poetas de la generación del 80. Actualmente es profesora de español en Harold Washington College localizado en Chicago, IL.

Johanny Vázquez Paz was born and raised in San Juan, Puerto Rico. She holds a B. A. in Sociology from Indiana State University and an M. A. in Hispanic Studies from the University of Illinois at Chicago. Her book Streetwise Poems/Poemas callejeros was recently published by Mayapple Press (Michigan, 2007). She is the co-editor of the anthology Between the Heart and the Land / Entre el corazón y la tierra: Latina Poets in the Midwest published by MARCH/Abrazo Press in 2001. Her poems have been included in many journals and anthologies, including the new compilation Poetas sin tregua of Puerto Rican poets from the 80's generation. She presently teaches Spanish at Harold Washington College in Chicago, IL.
